You might think we’re already there. Sitting in front of a computer or staring mindlessly at a handheld device and digitally “socialising”, but we’re not even half way to awesomeness. There is much more to come in the future when you will be doing an array of other activities over the digital medium that will be more fun, innovative and maybe more productive than it is today.
Being “social” is about to become much more than just plain sharing images, locations and comments – it’ll soon consume our private lives, and consume our public lives. It has already started, have a look at your facebook page and you will be updated where one of your friends had breakfast and what plans he has for lunch. Private life will have to guarded like a treasure by people who really love their privacy. Imagine yourself being tagged in a photograph at a party where you were just at the behest of your teenage colleagues.
Take communication for example – traditional telephones are being outdated at an alarming rate, being replaced by VOIP systems and Skype phones. There are numerous others in the docks waiting for the right time to leap into the market. Communication has been at the forefront of these changes and the way we have taken to socialising.
Our TV’s are now displaying internet content and our gaming devices are smarter than ever. You have gadgets all over you body and with a internet connection beating the other contender with your wits, agility and intelligence. The boring car races have been replaced by real time adrenalin pumping games. We get 24x7 TV programs that have their content lifted right from a website without caring for the quality of that is being beamed into our living rooms.
Integration is the key, and is what we’ll see a lot of in 2011. A massive boom in Social Technology, taking our lives to the next level, making our lives that much more fantastic. Are you really ready to catch it and go with it or will you still wait and watch till everyone is in?
